Deepening the Yamaha product experience with the RIDER app

When asked to create an app configurator for Yamaha motorcycles, we saw an opportunity to create something better.

Our first step was to define what the brief should have been.

The result, a destination for bikers to play, dream and experience… not just on screen but out into the real world.

Not just an up-sell for parts… but a hub for the two wheeled geek.

By extending the app beyond just a configurator we created a destination hub that satisfied a multitude of customer triggers. A place to spec your dream bike… and, if the wallet allowed, connect you directly to your local dealer. Immediately. A place to light up a rear tire and gain kudos - earning you points to spend in-app.

Value was created by giving priority access to product launches, learning about your own particular ride, with advice on how to ride safe in the city or how to survive in the Sahara, and the ability to share your own experiences via uploading your own rides and routes to the RIDER community.

Through a positive and wide customer experience accessories could be better and more naturally integrated into a customers story. Yamaha learn more about their customers. And ultimately more accessories were sold, be it kit to support your globe trotting adventures or the latest LED lights on your street racer.
